Adele has been forced to cancel all tour dates and appearances for 2011 after being ordered to undergo surgery on her throat.
The Someone Like You singer has pulled out of two US tours this year after being struck down with laryngitis and a vocal chord haemorrhage, and doctors have decided that an operation will be the best way of getting the 23-year-old back to full health.
'It is with deep regret that Adele has been forced to cancel her remaining live dates and promotional appearances in 2011,' a statement on her website read Friday.
'She is to undergo surgery to alleviate the current issues with her throat and a full recovery is expected. As a result, doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments.'
She is expected to make her return to the stage for the Grammy Awards on February 12.
