Whitney Houston Music Record Broken By Adele

Adele earned the top spot on Billboard 200 album chart. Adele’s “21″ replaced “The Bodyguard” as the longest running number one pop album by a female. Her album had its largest sales in the past year on the U.S. Chart alone. This was probably helped by the fact that she won eight Grammys and made a big comeback. The album sold 730,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan. She had twenty-one weeks at the top of the chart. This record beat the one set by Whitney Houston’s 1992 “Bodyguard”. The album’s most popular songs include “Rolling in the Deep” and “Someone Like You”. The album sold more than 18 million copies worldwide since February 2011 according to Columbia Record label.

Adele, 23, saw a swell in sales for her debut album,”19″. It sold 87,000 copies. Whitney Houston’s songs saw a surge in sales after her death on February 11th and the lovely tribute by Jennifer Hudson at the Grammy Awards on February 12th.
