Adele's Ex Wanted Royalties for "Inspiring" Her Hits
Adele, the ultra-hot songstress behind “21,” the No. 1 album in America, says the ex-boyfriend who inspired some of her music actually expected to claim a share of the profits.
“For about a week he was calling and was deadly serious about it,” she reportedly told British tabloid the Sun.
“Finally, I said, ‘Well, you made my life hell, so I lived it and now I deserve it.‘ ... He really thought he’d had some input into the creative process by being a [expletive]. I'll give him this credit — he made me an adult and put me on the road that I’m travelling.”
The breakup with the former beau in question is actually what motivated some of the music on Adele’s first CD, “19.” Due to the popularity of “21” — which also boasts its share of failed-relationship fare — “19” is now No. 20 on the Billboard album charts. If the best revenge is living well, vengeance appears to be Adele’s.
