Katy Perry Plans to Slow Down, Hold Off on New Album

Katy Perry Plans to Slow Down, Hold Off on New Album

2011 was Katy Perry’s year. While Teenage Dream came out in 2010, the singer saw enough top hits that she tied Michael Jackson’s record for most number-one singles released from an album. Yet, while her contemporaries like Lady Gaga keep on recording and touring, Perry plans to take a break and has no immediate plans for a Teenage Dream follow-up. She said at the release of her second perfume, Meow: "I know you guys want a new record, but I have to live a little so all the songs will be something worth listening to."
As far as her plans for the immediate future, she mentioned: "I think that maybe I'm going to just think about enjoying Christmas and New Year's."

Aside from the success of Teenage Dream, the pop star recently went blond and was named MTV’s Artist of the Year. About the former, Perry explained: "I'm having fun with my hair color because...I was black-haired for 10 years. That was a long time, so I just decided to change things up, try new things and see what worked.

"Who knows? I'll probably have to shave my head one day because of all of it."

As far as her recognition from MTV is concerned, Perry accepted the award via video message. At the time, she told fans: "Hi everyone at MTV! I just want to say thank you for this amazing award. To be Artist of the Year, a whole 365 days, that's pretty cool. […] I wasn't really allowed to watch MTV growing up, so this feels really validating. And I've had a fantastic year, a great tour and a great run, and you guys have been so a part of it and such a big reason why. So thank you so much. I really appreciate it."
